Overview
01 — OverviewPlywood is built from thin wood veneers laid with their grain at right angles to each other and pressed together under high pressure. This cross-lamination makes a panel that is strong in every direction, stable and easy to work, and the phenol-formaldehyde (WBP) bond keeps it durable in humid and exterior conditions.
Film-faced panels are the workhorse of concrete formwork. Their strong, flexible build and high water resistance stand up to repeated pours, and their nail and screw holding is excellent. Pine, beech–pine and poplar–pine constructions offer density and strength comparable to birch, with 20 to 25 reuses per face; the hexagonal anti-slip version is made for floors.
Plain plywood in beech, poplar, pine and mixed constructions serves furniture, roofing, cladding, packaging, automotive and boat building. It resists abrasion, tearing and crushing, does not shrink or swell, and its natural wood surface leaves room for a wide choice of finishes.
