01 — Overview
Overview
S-Inno uses a phenolic resin based on lignin, a natural, renewable polymer and the second most abundant in the world after cellulose. Lignin is a by-product of papermaking and acts as a strong natural binder in almost all land plants.
The resin contains 10 % bio-based material and the laminate is made with 50 % recycled paper, giving 60 % recycled content. Compared with conventional production it cuts CO₂ emissions by 39 %, water use by 23 % and energy use by 22 %, with 30 % of the phenolic resin replaced by lignin.
